Subsequently, I was redeployed to the Training Department. At this stage I completed an IPM Train the Trainer course, which dealt with the principles of adult education. This assisted me in training lay preachers in leadership though a Serving and Leading course, which I helped structure according to Servant Leadership.
Thereafter I attended a Public Speaking course at the Voice Clinic and later a Counselling course at LifeLine. During this time, I studied for a B. Administration Degree through the University of South Africa with Economics, Accounting, Industrial Psychology and Labour Law as part of the curriculum. After completion of this degree I embarked on an Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology, which I completed in 2001.
With this as background I established a small business, which drew up final statements and financial reports for year-end reporting. Part of the service offered was also the drawing up of business plans for submission to organizations and institutions for the consideration of providing funding for such enterprises.
I completed a business course presented by the University of Stellenbosch Business School dealing with the management of transitions. To successfully pass this course I co-authored as paper entitled: Pastoral care in an electronic era.
After a new Communication’s Concept had been developed for the International New Apostolic Church, I was requested to head up the newly established Communications Department in Cape Town. As the head of this department I was tasked with editing and proofreading all publications for internal and external distribution.
To better execute the task related to the website I completed a Joomla Content Management Course so that I was also able to upload multi-media material onto the website. In addition, I wrote lyrics for new and translated compositions of hymns and songs that are included in the New Apostolic Church’s English and Afrikaans hymnals.
In 2007 I was co-opted onto a committee called Workgroup Africa tasked with establishing effective communication to the Church’s more than 6.5 million members in Africa. In 2008 I was appointed the project leader of this group and a pilot of a newsletter called African Joy was launched. I acquired the approval of the international Church leadership for this and was responsible for the English content and for guiding the infrastructure and training that had to be put in place to ensure the publication succeeded. In 2014 this was the most extensive publication of the Church reaching 650 000 households in 17 different languages across the African continent.
At the commencement of this year 2020 I completed an Advanced Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) with TEFFullcircle accredited by Accreditat and a copy editing and proofreading diploma through Centre of Excellence, London based online college.
